Built in 1918 for circus baron Charles Ringling, the Zumbrota was named at the circus's star attraction, billed as "the largest elephant in captivity." Hornblower purchased the vessel in 1985 and rebuilt and refurbished her. Teak decks, sparkling brass fittings, and a full service galley were added.
